District Summary
East Providence is fairly average district. The third through eighth grade NECAP scores fall with in eight percent of the state average, but high school's test scores fall off. The worrisome numbers are the eleventh grade math and writing scores. With a writing score of thirty-seven percent, East Providence falls fourteen percent short of the state average of fifty-one. The math scores are not in much better shape; the district average is twenty-six percent, while the state average is thirty-three percent. These low test scores are quite a mystery. Although the district has low high school test scores, the attendance rate sits at ninety percent; yet only seventy-one percent of people graduate on time. This may be due to the seemingly high amount of incidents reported in the district. Reporting three-hundred ninety-one incidents may seem like a tear drop to the seven-hundred eighty-three reported in Central Falls, it may still explain the discrepancies between graduation rate and attendance.
School Analysis
East Providence High School is not a high preforming school. The eleventh grade NECAP scores don't even meet the state average. The school preform well in reading with a seventy three percent, but poorly on math (twenty-six percent) and sciences (twenty-nine percent). These low NECAP scores became low SAT and AP test scores in Senior year.

Rhode Island's average High school classroom student to teacher ratio is 1:11, but East Providence sit at 1:12. Four percent of the teachers are not highly qualified teachers, by Rhode Island standards. Small factors such as these may factor into the lower end NECAP and SAT scores. The low test scores do not match the high attendance rate of ninety percent.
Conclusion
East Providence High School is developing school located in a hard working community. The High attendance rate, shows promise but the high percent of not highly qualified teachers needs to be changed. In order for this school to move forward more of the teachers need to be qualified and slightly smaller class sizes. East Providence High School is an average public high with a bright future.
